A modern cleaner fuel for the 21st century

The reasons for choosing to power one’s car with LPG (also known as AutoGas) are getting stronger every day. It is not only safe and environmentally friendly, but it costs half the price of regular petrol. In addition, the Government’s Powershift Programme is offering big financial incentives to many of those who wish to make the switch.

It is now relatively easy to convert a car to run on LPG: the average cost of conversion is around £1,600 – if you qualify for a Government grant (ranging from 40% to 75% of the conversion cost) you could do it for a great deal less. The savings on petrol costs are also very considerable: if you have an annual mileage of 30,000 miles, the average savings over a four-year period would amount to around £3,000. (Typically, a full tank of AutoGas will power a family car for between 200 to 300 miles.) As fuel prices continue to go up, the savings become even greater.

And, what’s more, you can still run your car on petrol if you choose to! When your vehicle is converted, the new LPG tank is installed in addition to your existing fuel tank. A simple switch on the dashboard allows you to move from one fuel type to the other. It also works with diesel.
